Who would have thought that setting up a new home could be so treacherous.
We waited for a month for our couch to arrive. Yes, it arrived alright, but it was too BIG to get through the corridor outside our apartment (whose idea was it to live in apartment anyway?). There was nothing they could do but to take it back to the manufacturer and ask them to remove the arm from the couch before taking all the parts back to my apartment and re-assemble the couch on the spot.
We also wanted to have a TV (my wife wants to buy a TV, I just want her to stop nagging me to buy a TV), so we did all the research and went out to buy the latest and greatest TV (that we could afford) from JB. Guess what, the minute we put the order in, Samsung (the brand we picked) issued an urgent recall notice to recall the model we just bought because of broken digital tuner.
The furniture shop finally called on the weekend and told me they could delivery it on Tuesday (5/6). I thought "Great! All I need to do is to book the elevator in my apartment building.". Guess what? The Body Corporate decided to steam clean the carpet of the whole building on THAT day and no one is allowed to book the elevator. So we had to push back the delivery to Thursday. "No worry!", I thought. At least we are getting it before the long weekend. I mean, it could be worse.
Yes, it did get worse. After I booked the elevator in my apartment building, the furniture store rang me again and told me that the guy who puts the couch together for me only works on Tuesday (what a job) and that's why she originally booked the delivery on a Tuesday but forgot to mention that to me when I asked her to postpone the delivery to Thursday.
So there you go, we are going to have a new couch with a broken arm delivered to our apartment on Thursday. How can we not get excited?
As for the TV, the salesperson who sold me the TV is now on holiday. Can't even ask her for update.
I am slowly coming to believe that it is all a big conspiracy to stop us from sitting on a couch and watch TV.
